We are in luck! A few days ago ATEVAL (Association of Textile Sector Entrepreneurs of the Valencian Community) announced the names of the winning companies of the 1st Edition of ATEVAL Awards 2022. This edition rewarded the internationalization efforts of the companies, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) actions, and the professional trajectory. And guess what happened?
Indeed, we received the first CSR 2022 award for our implementation of most of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN’s 2030 agenda, thanks to a sustainability strategy based on three pillars: processes, products and people. With them, we created the Sustainability department at the end of last year.
WHO Agenda 2030
On September 25, 2015, WHO adopted a set of global goals to eradicate poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all. These goals are to be met in 15 years, as part of the 2030 agenda.
And what are these ambitious goals?
- End of poverty.
- Zero hunger.
- Health and wellness.
- Quality education.
- Gender equality.
- Clean water and sanitation.
- Affordable and non-polluting energy.
- Decent work and economic growth.
- Industry, innovation and infrastructure.
- Reduction of inequalities.
- Sustainable cities and communities.
- Responsible production and consumption.
- Climate Action.
- Underwater life.
- Life of terrestrial ecosystems.
- Peace, justice, and solid institutions.
- Alliances to achieve objectives.

How can I help?
If reading this makes you wonder if you can help in any way to make it easier to meet those goals, the answer is yes. In fact, there are very simple things you can start applying in your daily life to do your bit. Here are just a few.
Things you can do from your couch
- Save electricity by putting appliances on a power strip and unplugging them when you are no longer using them.
- By doing something as absurd as giving up paper bank statements and paying bills online, you can do a lot to help the planet.
- Turn off the lights while watching TV or at the computer, as the screens already emit comfortable brightness.
Things you can do at home
- Air dry things. Let hair and clothes dry naturally, and load the washing machine fully before putting it on.
- A bathtub requires many more liters of water than a short shower of 5 to 10 minutes.
- Buy products that are minimally packaged.
Things you can do outside the home
- Buy local products, this way we help to preserve jobs and trucks have to travel long distances.
- Shop with a shopping list to avoid unnecessary impulse purchases.
- Bring your own reusable shopping bag to avoid buying plastic bags.
Things you could do at work
- If not everyone at your job has access to health care, find out what rights they have at work.
- Advises young people. It is an attentive, stimulating and effective way to guide the future of the company.
- Raise your voice against all types of discrimination in your office. All people are equal, without exception.
