Where does the word Aquaclean come from? Where are our fabrics made? We are often asked these and many other questions, and our followers’ curiosity knows no bounds! So today we are going to answer some of them.
As the sofa has become one of the most important elements of our home, it is increasingly relevant to understand what we are going to invest our money in. And even more so as we find ourselves in this new normal.
For this purpose, we have contacted Miguel Amorós, technical director of our technologies. With a degree in Chemistry from the University of Alicante, Miguel is a professional whose working life has always been linked to the textile industry. With 5 years of experience as a technician, and more than 10 years as director of Pascual y Bernabeu S.A., the group’s finishing company, he will guide us through the different terms and doubts surrounding the world of Aquaclean.
Where are our fabrics manufactured?
Our fabrics are manufactured in a mountain town near the coast in southeastern Spain, called Alcoy. Moreover, the whole production process takes place in this same city and, thanks to this, we control the quality of our fabrics in our facilities from the weaving to the finishing.
What does the name aquaclean imply?
aquaclean means durability, hygiene and safety. One of the main characteristics of our fabrics is the fact that all types of stains can be cleaned simply with water. This happens thanks to an invisible molecular layer that covers each fiber of the fabric, and prevents dirt from penetrating into the fabric.
Both liquid and solid stains disappear from your sofa with a little water. If you want to know more about how this technology works, you can visit this link.
Safe Front®, what is it?
Safe Front® technology creates a protective barrier that eliminates and prevents the reproduction of any microorganisms in our fabrics. This is especially beneficial for people with dust mite allergies, as it eliminates them and prevents their reproduction. Therefore, this technology is ideal for homes with pets.
Furthermore, speaking in terms of COVID, our new certificate assures us that our fabrics are effective against viruses with a similar structure to COVID-19. Safe Front® acts on the lipid barrier and in contact with water facilitates lipid solubility. We have been able to demonstrate a reduction of more than 91% of viruses after 2 hours of contact.
On the other hand, none of the products we use, during the whole manufacturing process, are toxic. This implies that we do not use perfluorocarbons or alkyl ethoxylates, and makes our fabrics totally ecological.
Perfluorocarbons, or PFCs, are a group of chemical substances that have been used as water, oil and dirt repellents in general. The main problem with these substances is that they are potentially carcinogenic, as well as affecting fertility and the thyroid gland.
Therefore, despite being the easy way to avoid dirt, at Aquaclean we have decided to do without them in order to improve the legacy we will leave to future generations.
If you want to know more about PFCs we recommend you to visit our website.
We will soon introduce you to more faces of the wonderful team that makes up Aquaclean, stay tuned!
